Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a small 6-inch round cake pan.
Mix the cake batter: In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Add the egg and vanilla, then stir in milk. Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
Bake: Pour batter into the pan and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.
Make the frosting: Beat the butter until fluffy. Add powdered sugar gradually, then vanilla and milk until smooth and spreadable.
Decorate: Frost the cooled cake and top with crushed or whole dried strawberries and raspberries for a pop of color and flavor.
